Research Report: Results from the First Six Months of the Public Safety Assessment–Court in Kentucky

UPDATE—Aug. 8, 2016: A report on the results from the first six months of use of the Public Safety Assessment (PSA) throughout the state of Kentucky has been removed from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation website because of an error that was identified in the underlying data file. The error affects a small proportion of cases (approximately 5 percent) and is unlikely to impact the bottom-line results from that time period: In the six months following PSA implementation, pretrial releases increased, pretrial crime was down, and the percentage of individuals who failed to appear for court hearings were unchanged. Kentucky is undertaking efforts to fix the data error, and a revised report will be posted once the corrected data has been analyzed.
