Women should have access to a full range of contraceptive options, but statistics show choices about birth control and reproductive health are often driven by the health care system, rather than by the patient. More than 19 million women in the United States lack access to a public family planning clinic, while high costs prevent others from getting the care and services they need.
Our goal is to promote reproductive health, planning, and choice by expanding access to contraception, closing gaps in coverage, and building awareness about birth control options. We’re funding efforts to make it easier for women to get same-day access to birth control and exploring convenient new ways to prescribe and purchase contraceptives. We’re working with state Medicaid agencies to align benefits and improve reimbursement policies to promote free and easy access to all methods. And we’re testing innovative new ways to bring knowledge to women via social media and targeted information campaigns. By supporting these initiatives, we hope to ensure that women have the power to choose, access, and use the contraception that they want.
